Report: Orlen wants Russian compensation for end of energy imports

WARSAW, Mar 6 (PRIME) -- Poland's energy company Orlen plans to demand compensation from Russia for the discontinuation of oil and gas imports, CEO Daniel Obajtek said in an interview broadcast by radio Zet on Monday.

"We will be considering the question. The agreements that I cannot speak about here contain all these details. The question of compensations by Russia is being considered," Obajtek said.

Orlen did not prolong a deal with Russia's Rosneft in January, under which it received 300,000 tonnes of oil per month.

The company has an agreement for 200,000 tonnes per month in force with Russia's Tatneft that expires in December 2024.

Oil pipeline operator Transneft said on February 27 that Poland did not confirm and did not pay for the orders scheduled for the end of February and supplies stopped.

A contract with Gazprom was in force until 2023, but supplies stopped in April 2022 because Orlen refused to pay in rubles.
